“Sky Sports” reports that Barcelona are stepping up all efforts to offer Argentina striker Lionel Messi a contract next summer.
The club are in talks with La Liga over spending limits for next season, taking the idea of the Argentine returning to the Camp Nou into consideration. This move would be his last in European football.
However, it will not be easy as La Liga have accused Barça of breaching the financial cap with three players for the 2021/22 season, including former Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen and midfielder Gavi.
The Christensen lawsuit was successfully appealed, but Barça will almost certainly have to sell several players to get Messi back. Nevertheless, the club are working hard on the issue. The Blaugrana bosses have been encouraged by the lack of progress in contract negotiations between the player and the Parisians.
